For this case study project, I created a web app called Beauty Talk. It highly resembles LinkedIn where professionals network and collaborate. However, Beauty Talk is specifically for professionals in the beauty industry. Nail technicians, hairstylists, aestheticians, nail salon owners, makeup artists, beauty consultants, beauty influencers, and everyone in between from all over the world can all come together and form business relations. Beauty industry professionals can also upload photos or videos to promote their businesses.
Users can create their profiles and list their work experiences, past education, photos, references or referrals (if any), and posts or activities. References or referrals are professionals who have worked with a professional and wish to write about their experiences working or collaborating with said professional. An example would be a makeup artist, a nail technician, and hairstylist who has worked with a beauty influencer. They would write their experiences with the beauty influencer, which would most likely be positive experiences. Posts and activities are for users who wish to share new styles or techniques as well as promotions and sales. For example, a boutique owner who sells cosmetics would post a promotion for select items for half off during the Christmas season. This promotion would be shown in the posts or activities section of the user’s profile. Of course, salon owners and boutique owners would be able to link their websites to their profiles so that other professionals can get more information about their businesses.
